The Banquet
The New Jersey State Chapter initiates the banquet season with an Awards Banquet to honor the volunteers who put in so much time and effort in working for the wild turkey. This special banquet is designed to give volunteers the opportunity to go home with some great art work and collectible items without having to 'buy' them in a live or silent auction.

Each chapter is honored for its achievements over the past year in a variety of categories. These include most memberships: Regular, WITO,Jakes, Wheelin' Sportsmen, and Sponsor, Highest Net-Net, Highest Gross, Highest Attendance, Most Improved and a number of others.

Several awards are issued to the chapters to honor their achievements for the past year. Two special awards are issued in honor of special volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding service to the NWTF in New Jersey.

William E. Smith Award
The William E. Smith Award for Outstanding Volunteer of the Year is awarded in memory of Bill Smith, an outstanding NWTF volunteer, chapter vice president and banquet chairman. The candidates for this award are outstanding, active NWTF volunteers, nominated by their local chapters and voted on by the state board.

The New Jersey State Chapter, Board of Directors was proud to recognize this fine volunteer for the work she does for the NWTF and for the benefit of our favorite gamebird - the wild turkey.

At our 2011 banquet, the New Jersey State Chapter proudly awarded
RICHARD "UNCLE DICKIE" KINNEY
2010 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

Uncle Dickie has been an intgral part of the State Chapter's Show and Sales events for years. He is a custom turkey call maker and provides the State Chapter with calls for our sales at public events such as the Annual NJ Sportsmen's Show and the Pequest Open House.

Uncle Dickie (along with his wife Noella) is the driving force behind the Kittatinny Gobblers Chapter. As President and Banquet Chairman, Uncle Dickie has kept the KGC chapter alive and kicking.

This gentleman routinely attends many local banquets and helps out wherever he can. He attends shows and helps with the Shows and Sales. He routinely provides his products for several banquets at a reduced price and some are outright donations.

Uncle Dickie was recently involved in an accident
and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries to his ribs and spine
(11 Broken Ribs, 4 Cracked Vertebrea & a Punctured Lung).
Fortunately, he is doing well in his recovery.

In spite of his injuries Uncle Dickie has scheduled the
Kittatinny Gobblers 2011 Banquet for April 30, 2011.

As an outstanding volunteer, turkey hunter,
Chapter President, and Turkey Call Maker,

The New Jersey State Chapter has awarded

Richard "Uncle Dickie" Kinney
The William E. Smith Volunteer of the Year Award.

The New Jersey State Chapter, Board of Directors is proud to recognize this fine volunteer for the work he does for the NWTF and for the benefit of our favorite gamebird - the wild turkey.

Robert Eriksen Award for Conservation
The Robert Eriksen Award for Conservation is given in honor of the work Bob Eriksen has done for the wild turkey here in New Jersey. Luckily for us (and for Bob) he is still with us working for the wild turkey. However, he is no longer a volunteer but an employee of the NWTF. The award is given to an outstanding volunteer that has worked in the field with biologists and Fish & Game personnel to conserve the wild turkey here in New Jersey.

There has been no one nominated for the Robert Eriksen Award in 2010.

These awards are detailed in the underlined links.
